Recently, Cone Marshall HK Limited (“Cone Marshall”) has become aware that certain individuals have been disseminating false and misleading information about Cone Marshall through online platforms and social media groups (including, without limitation, WeChat, Douyin, and Xiaohongshu), as well as by sending emails to members of the public. Such information includes claims that Cone Marshall “has been placed under formal investigation by the Economic Crime Investigation Division of the Chaoyang Branch of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau,” or that Cone Marshall’s clients “may become subject to investigation.”

These statements are wholly unfounded. They have misled the public and damaged Cone Marshall’s business reputation and legitimate rights and interests. To clarify the facts, protect Cone Marshall’s legitimate rights and interests, and prevent the continued spread of false information, Cone Marshall hereby issues the following statement:

  1. As of the date of this statement, Cone Marshall has not received any notice of case filing, notice requesting assistance with an investigation, or any other investigative document from any public security authority. Any statement claiming that Cone Marshall has been formally placed under criminal investigation is false.
  2. Cone Marshall conducts its business in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory requirements in every jurisdiction in which it operates. Cone Marshall strictly fulfills its compliance obligations, including those relating to anti-money laundering (“AML”), countering the financing of terrorism (“CFT”), know-your-customer (“KYC”), customer due diligence (“CDD”), and enhanced due diligence (“EDD”). Cone Marshall does not tolerate, facilitate, or participate in any unlawful or criminal activity and has consistently cooperated with competent authorities in the lawful exercise of their statutory duties in the relevant jurisdictions.
  3. Cone Marshall hereby demands that all individuals and organizations responsible for creating or disseminating the above false information immediately cease producing, publishing, forwarding, or otherwise distributing any false or misleading statements concerning Cone Marshall. Cone Marshall also urges the public to remain vigilant, evaluate online information carefully, and refrain from believing or reposting unverified content, so that false information does not spread further.
  4. With respect to the conduct identified to date, Cone Marshall has retained legal counsel to take appropriate legal action and has filed a criminal complaint with the Chaoyang Branch of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau. Cone Marshall will continue to monitor the dissemination of the false information and preserve all relevant evidence. Cone Marshall reserves all rights to pursue civil, administrative, and criminal remedies against any person or entity that fabricates, publishes, or disseminates false information that harms Cone Marshall’s business reputation or legitimate rights and interests, as well as any person who continues to disseminate such false information despite knowing it to be false, thereby causing adverse consequences.
